Privacy policy

The short version
CopyNHoard keeps your clipboard history on your PC and never sends it to us or anyone else. The app only goes online to fetch the titles and icons of links and sites, and one switch turns that off. If you join the waitlist on this website, we keep your email address only to tell you when the app is on the Microsoft Store.
Who we are
CopyNHoard is made by Sridhar C, an independent developer. In this policy, “we” and “us” mean Sridhar C. You can reach us at hello@codeaprogram.dev.
The app
- Your history stays on your PC. CopyNHoard saves what you copy (text, code, links, colors and pictures) with the name of the app or website it came from, in the app’s folder under your Windows account. For files you copy in File Explorer, it keeps their names and locations, not the files themselves. The app never uploads your history, and we have no server that could receive it.
- Text in pictures is read on your PC. So that search can find words inside screenshots, Windows’ own text recognition reads each copied picture. It runs on your computer, and the pictures and their text never leave it.
- Some copies are never saved. With the settings on (they are by default), copies from password managers and text that holds an API key, token, private key or card number are skipped, and so is anything you copy in apps or websites you exclude, or while capture is paused. When a key or card number is skipped, the panel says so and offers Save anyway: the copy waits in memory, never on disk, for 90 seconds and is then forgotten. The app also clears it from the Windows clipboard after 90 seconds, unless you copied something else since.
- The app goes online only for link titles and site icons. When you copy a link, the app fetches that page once for its title and the site’s icon. It also fetches the icon of a website you copied from or chose to exclude. When a site doesn’t give its icon, the app asks Google’s favicon service, which receives the site’s address but nothing you copied (see the Google Privacy Policy). Like any visit, these requests show the sites your IP address. Settings → Privacy → Network → Show link titles and icons turns all of this off, and then the app never goes online.
- No account, analytics, ads or tracking. The app doesn’t ask who you are and doesn’t measure how you use it.
- You decide how long clips are kept. In Settings → Clips → History you choose how many clips to keep (10 to 2,000) and for how long (30 minutes up to forever). Clear history deletes every clip that isn’t pinned, and Settings → General can pause saving altogether.
- Buying and updates go through the Microsoft Store. Microsoft handles payments, the free trial and updates under the Microsoft Privacy Statement. We never see your payment details.
This website
- The waitlist. If you sign up, we keep your email address with our email service, Brevo (see the Brevo privacy policy), and use it only to tell you when CopyNHoard is on the Microsoft Store. We don’t sell it or share it with anyone else.
- Leaving the list. Every email has an unsubscribe link. You can also email us to see, correct or delete your address.
- No analytics. This website doesn’t count visits and sets no cookies of its own. It remembers whether you picked the light or dark look in your browser’s own storage, on your device.
- Fonts. The fonts load from Google Fonts, so your browser asks Google’s servers for them and Google sees your IP address. See the Google Fonts privacy FAQ.
- Hosting. The website is hosted on Cloudflare. To keep it fast and safe, Cloudflare may process technical details such as your IP address and browser type, and may set a short-lived security cookie if it needs to check that you’re not a bot. See the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.
Children
The waitlist isn’t meant for children. If you’re under 18 and signed up, please ask a parent or guardian, or email us to be removed.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we’ll update the date at the top of this page. For important changes, we’ll also tell people on the waitlist by email.
